Jake Paul Vs Ryan Garcia Beef

Jake Paul has come a long way from his days as a Disney child actor and social media influencer.

Whether some fans want to admit it or not, the 24-year-old has carved out an impressive career for himself. He's already made millions though Vine and YouTube, but now he's got a fledgling boxing career which people are watching in their droves.

Is Paul a 'real' boxer? That's the question asked most. Well, he's got a professional record but all of his four fights prior to Tommy Fury this December came against first-time boxers who were either athletes or influencers from other sports or industries.

Whilst in Los Angeles, Paul worked out with lightweight sensation Ryan Garcia and, in taking a body shot, found himself lying in a hospital bed.

Rumours of bad blood that spawned from the incident were 'semi-fake', according to Garcia.

"It's semi-fake," the 22-year-old boxer said. "I've always supported him and said it's good for boxing to bring in new fans. Do I hold anger towards him? No. He's messing around too much. I'll punch him, then we can laugh about it."

That was in June 2020, either side of Paul's first two fights.

Paul's pro debut came against a fellow YouTuber in AnEsonGib, but once he disposed of the Brit with a first round knockout, he began to realise this new career may have some legs.

A clash with former NBA star Nate Robinson was next. After that quick victory, Paul knew he had to step up his game once more and decided to get away from the distractions of Los Angeles and take his training to the next level.

For the Ben Askren fight, Paul trained in Miami and he found there were just as many distractions as he battled in L.A.

"When I was in Miami for the Ben Askren training camp, there was like 100 people on the weekends, trying to get me to do something.

"Even that energy to respond to them, to say, 'Hey, no I can't come out'. Even that is a distraction in of itself.

"I love it down here, the runs are amazing on the beach, this is a magical, paradise of a place to get your mind right and to just focus on the task ahead."

While in Miami preparing for Askren, Paul even hooked up with UFC star Jorge Masvidal to learn some secrets. Paul says he wants to focus on his own work rather than celebrity ops moving forward.

Following the Askren bout, Paul has trained in Puerto Rico ever since.

Paul told SunSport: "I've loved every one of my training camps.

"I think isolation has been the biggest key to a successful training camp and not having any distractions. And Puerto Rico is an amazing place for that.

"There's hyper-focus down, even if you want to do something fun, sometimes there's not really much going on."

Paul's head trainer is BJ Flores – a former cruiserweight contender who faced Tony Bellew – and super-middleweight boxer JLeon Love. Bellator fighter Anthony Taylor – a 7-5 MMA fighter – is also a regular fixture in his camp and he was Tommy Fury's last fight.

Fury is next up for Paul on December 18 and The Problem Child has vowed to put his rival to sleep, revealing he has been working hard training long before the fight was announced.

"I was secretly in camp for seven weeks before Tommy signed the contract while he was at the club partying, smoking cigars at his brothers fight, and eating Krispy Kreme's on cute dates with Molly."

So what does Paul's training and diet look like? He detailed what his week consists of to Men's Health.

Monday

Paul starts the day with a bowl of oatmeal, followed by 10 minutes of meditation. He then punches out a three-mile jog, followed by some stretching, an ice bath and a nap.

In the evening he gets to boxing, working up to 20 rounds of shadow boxing, mitts, heavy bag, speed bag and noodle drills in the ring. He then does core and neck exercises, followed by more stretching and ice baths.

Tuesday

Paul jumps into sparring on Tuesdays. He spars four to 10 rounds, depending on where he is in training camp. "Sometimes I'll spar two guys. It's always good to have a fresh guy come in, just sort of be there on you for some cardio," Paul says.

Wednesday

Paul does wind sprints on a football field, followed by ice baths, massaging, stretching, cupping and cryotherapy.
